Ten candles with a whole lot of history
In 1978, Gilbert Baker created his legendary rainbow flag with eight colored stripes, each assigned with its own meaning. This flag has since evolved in many ways, most recently in Philadelphia with the addition of black and brown stripes to represent people of color within the LGBTQ+ community. It’s Baker’s flag and the many iterations it has taken that inspired our candle colors and their names. Each candle represents a stripe of the flag, and each name signifies its meaning. Whether you have one candle or the whole rainbow, we wanted to create a warm, fresh way for you to put your pride on display.
